The Master's Word

I would like to welcome all members and visitors to our website.

The site in it's current form has been made possible by the hard work of our Chaplain for 2010, Worshipful Brother Michael Schmidt, and he certainly deserves many thanks for his efforts. Mike cares a great deal about Thornville Lodge #521 and it shows in the work he has, and continues, to do.

As the officers of the Lodge know, our annual inspection will be on January 9th in the Fellowcraft Degree. The inspection will be held at Maysville Schools Administration building in Maysville in conjuction with Jackson Lodge #85 of the 19th District and our host, Muskingum Lodge #368 of the 18th District. The officers of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio will be in attendance and I would strongly encourage all who are Master Masons to attend this unique event in Ohio and enjoy the fellowship and degree work performed by the Brethren of the three Lodges. As with most Masonic events , there will also be plenty of food with coffee and donuts served at 7:30am and a lunch served after the Fellowcraft degree. Please email me or check the 2010 Tri-district Inspection details page if you need directions to the event.

We will also have a second chance to meet the Grand Lodge Officers this year on February 5th at the Grand Masters Reception. This event will be held at Lee's Banquet Haus in Logan, with registration starting at 6pm and dinner starting at 7pm. Tickets are just $16 per person and this is a great event to take your lady to. Once again, please email me if you need tickets and directions.

Our Most Worshipful Grand Master, Terry W. Posey, has adopted the theme, "Freemasonry- It's All in the Family" for 2010, and has allowed for The Grand Masters Class to be held as a more localized event this year. The Grand Master has also asked that a special emphasis be placed on encouraging members of the Uniformed Services ( military, police, fire, or EMT) to participate as candidates, as well as members of the clergy. One program that some might not be aware of is Clergyman Memebership Program of The Supreme Council of the Scottish Right. The Supreme Council will pay for the initiation fees of a clergyman of any faith who petitions and recieves the three degrees of Masonry. Please contact me for additional information.

The 13th Masonic District will conduct a Grand Masters Class on May 1, 2010 at New Lexington and I hope we will be able to participate this year. I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas and I pray that each of you and our Lodge has a prosperous and safe New Year.

And if, by chance, you are a visitor to our website and you are not a Freemason, remember 2b1ask1

Fraternally,
George Fowler, PM
